I’m
still editing the Govenaires at the Fourth of July Celebration but had to make
a detour. I don’t want my readers to get
bored or loose interest. I have an
excellent excuse which leads into my story today. On the 4th of July while I waited
for the drum corp I locked up my bike
and meandered Minnesota Square Park. I
happened to see and greet a good friend, Paul Schwichenberg. I told him what I was doing with the
blog/vlog (at that point I was still in development stages). How people are really interested in preserving
their memories. I then went on to tell
him about while copying some of my clips from the past I started uploading them
to Facebook and youtube and received positive response from some of my
oldies. And at that point made the
decision to start the new blog/vlog.
From my short spiel , we soon talked about our connection via public access. For whatever reason I had Paul’s Antarctica tape from 1987 and a vacation tape from 1995. He asked if I do a transfer for him which of course I did . As I was transferring his VHS to DVD I edited a clip from the Antarctica tape, with permission of Paul.
Antarctica. This is amazing. The graphics were on a 8x10 college ruled paper
and what looked like magic maker print.
Lyle C. Steichen’s spent October, 1987 to October 1988 in Antarctic. Paul was in a lot of the footage as well as
explaining to Lyle about what they were seeing.
This is just a brief glimpse from a two hour tape of Antactica.
This clip is brought to you by a generous sponsorship by Paul Schwichenberg!
Well
that about wraps it up for this post. I
WILL have the story on the Govenaires before the week is out.
This
project does give me some thoughts about what direction I want to go and I think that each month I will be featuring a significant story that may take two or three posts to finish. I came up with
that idea while snapping these lovely shots in my back yard. I’ll give you more information after the
Govies on the 4th.
