FALL IN MINNESOTA

During the days ahead, in this month of October, I'd like to pay tribute to a community project very near and dear to my heart, Spook Corner.

Spook Corner began in 1993 as an idea to promote public access TV and engage the community with this wonderful free resource.

On October 31, 1993 Spook Corner was born.  With the help of multiple volunteers I coordinated efforts that connected many people here in St. Peter.  The station hosted a live event where trick or treaters came through the haunted studio and received treats as well as being interviewed live.  In addition, we asked Halloween trivia questions where viewers could call in and win prizes that were donated from area businesses and still others donated their time either by being in front of the cameras as characters or in back of the camera as TV crew members.  So many aspects of this project proved to be so successful that it became a tradition that expanded and encompassed more and more community members of St. Peter.

After the tornado in 1998 Spook Corner was wasn't revived until 2003.  It was at that time the ball got set in motion to reserect this holiday event with a slightly different slant.  While the production didn't go live we created an interactive Talent Show with community residents participating in front of and in back of the camera.

And so, in these days ahead during this fall month I hope to bring you all some very fun clips from this festive event.

In the meantime, I selected a clip from 1993.  It's called, "The Great Scarecrow Patch".  It was shot at Emma Krumbee's in Belle Plaine, Minnesota.  That event has grown considerable since it first started.  Please click on the link below for your viewing pleasure...

A Most Delightful Remembrance

Bruce Davis & Sedra Bistodeau LIVE in the studio of St. Peter Public Access, cable channel 7.
February 11, 2005

I think this was the first year that St. Peter held the Winterfest and as part of the festivities a Youth Fiddle Contest was hosted in the Community Center's Governors Room.  Adrian Lo organized the event where children came from all over the state.
Two floors down, the St. Peter Public Access (SPPA) was conducting a live show.  Bruce Davis, from KRBI graciously contributed his services by acting as announcer and host for our program.  It was almost four hours of live programming that day.

I remember this little 10 year old girl who came down to the studio and let Bruce interview her.  She was absolutely delightful.

Click this link below to see this interview of Sedra.

This sure was a fun clip to share with all of you.

So what is Sedra doing now.  Just plug in her name, Sedra Bistodeau and you will see the many wonderful pieces of music she continues to play and perform for audiences all over.

Here's one from 2009 I thought was exceptional!

Sedra's family should also have mention.  There were multiple video clips in which the whole family have performed together.
Take a look at this one for example....
